Re: 2 HD stream roll out

as long as your loop length is less than 3000 feet, you should qualify if your area has the new profile.

Would this even be possible for us? The gateway is only synced at 25216/2048 now, and we have the 3mbit internet option.

I just called and was told that 2 HD is now available to me in Cedar Park, TX ( FTTP neightborhood ) but that there was still no official announcement to whole house DVR. He *thought* (read: no promise) that it would be out sometime in June.

I've lived here with FTTP Elite for 15 months now. What's another few months... Maybe they'll get their act together next spring when my contract with DirecTV is up.

Apparently. Support says it should be available between June 1 and sometime in September.

I doubt that the new profile change caused a high flux in traffic to the point that it slowed down stb registrations.

more than likely it was just another dvr backend problem "that microsoft is aware of and working on"

the dvr communication to the backend is one of the biggest things i think needs to be re-worked, if i were a customer (and as most already do see it like this) i would want to watch my recorded programs during an outage.

to be honest, i dont know of a list of VHOs that are 2hd capable, AFAIK the majority of the vhos, including the major ones (such as st louis and atlanta) will have the ability for profile migration if it hasnt happened already.

all new installs were supposed to be under the new profile and existing members were to be automagically migrated over on an area by area basis or so ive read.

Any idea if the Chicago VHO 2HD update was going today?

As a Tech doing installs, the DVRs came up slow today, and calling Tier 2 said that the VHO must have very high traffic if it takes longer than usual for the DVRs to come up. And I am not the only tech from my garage who noticed this today...

So it could be totally unrelated, or it could be an explanation as to why...

Most video offices should be 2hd/2sd capable now and seeing as the marketing is about to start for it in the next week or so, its a safe bet that anyone can request a profile migration and have the 2hd enabled.

I just noticed I now have the 2/2 setup here in the Atlanta market. Checked system settings after I didn't get booted from HD when a recording started...sure enough, 2/2 with the IPTV bandwith up to 29900.

I plugged in my Aunt's number as Uverse is not yet available to me... I noticed on the invoice it showed the 2HD/2SD profile.

It doesn't lower anything. Like now at 3/1, you can use the available HD stream for an SD stream.

Wait, this lowers the number of SD streams? What if I want 3 SD and 1 HD stream?

My question is: Is the HD quality any better now? Quality along with 2 streams are the 2 reasons I have not signed up for U-Verse yet....

Let me know when they have 1SD 4HD profiles. That's what I've got with DirecTV right now.

BTW, I'm an FTTP customer so I don't see why they couldn't do it with ease. Then again, Uverse was originally promised back in 11/06 and then again in 3/07 with still no availability where I live. By the time they get it online with multiple HD streams and WHDVR TimeWarner will have DOCSIS 3.0/SDV and just putting my FTTP to shame.
