[ TV] Rogers VCR Commander

Does anyone use VCR Commander on their 3250HD? I need the codes for Pioneer so I try to get mine working, Rogers didn't give me the manual...figures.

I still thinking of going back to Bell ... to many head aches getting this HDTV working that it's almost not worth the money.

the pdf that you attached is for a 3 code system, the 3250hd is a 4 code system.

Oh, sorry... Thought it might work.

PS. I saw your post on digitalhome.ca, if you don't get an answer there then I dunno. I cant believe Rogers can't provide you with the list of codes.

Yeah well I am seriously thinking of going back to Bell because of Rogers' lack of customer service level. I guess some ppl might say that about Bell, but I have been very lucky in the past and can honestly say I don't have any complaints.

One of the other things that ticks me off with the Roger box is I can't search for shows by name like you can in the BEV gear, I hate scrolling through hundreds of channels to find what I want to watch.

You can, its just not very good. You click the yellow "A" button while in the guide, and you can search by title, theme or channel.

I still remember the first cable box I had in Scarborough. Not sure if it came from Graham, or Scarborough Cable.. I know it was NOT Rogers.

When you browsed, it showed you one occurrence of a show. When you selected it, it then showed the episodes, and finally when selecting an episode, showed the times and channel info. Far FAR nicer than what we have now.

Leathal,

I found this PDF over at Charter Communications. It's for the 3250HD and I assume that being the same model, the codes should be the same for all carriers.

I have Cox Communications and recently got upgraded to the 3250HD and I too want to setup my VCR to record shows using the Interactive Program Guide. I tried the codes in this PDF, but they don't seem to work on my Sony VCR. Bummer! I'll have to try the "Automatic" mode, I.E. 0000 and see if it turns up a code that works with my VCR.

Good luck!

Rogers has nothing like this HiVolt. Plus you can not create favourite lists of your programs and view by them only on Rogers, not to mention only view the channels that you have paid for as suppose to all the channels which is confusing as they don't label them being non-paid channels its only when you select it you find out if you are paying for it or not.

Rogers hardware is made by scientists live white rooms all their life and never get out which is why the software is in their receivers is too complicated and not stupid simple enough that your dad who probably has hard time programming the VCR could never learn to adapt and use fully.

Bell on the other hand has a much bigger market since Dish also uses the same products they do, so it's been tested and researched to the hilt, that's why it's very easy to navigate through the menus.
