@telus.net

do i pay too much?

my bill is
High Speed Enhanced 3 $50.95
3YR Term Discount -$5
Long Distance Loyalty -$3
Long Distance Loyalty -$5 (why are there 2 of these?)
+ tax

Do I pay too much? High speed enhanced is 35.95 on web site but it must have been 50 in the past? What is the best option? Is upgrading to 6.0 and still paying less possible?

Also is there a place to see how much time is left on 3yr term?

your bill is currently incorrect
the -3.00 loyalty discount is from an older "velocity" plan that you must have had (you probably upgraded from 1.5-3.0 at some time). It should have been removed when the upgrade order was originally done.
With that error you're paying 37.95/mo which is slightly higher than current plans

The current price is 40.95 and you get a -5.00 discount for having an RPP. That's how the 35.95 is calculated.

The only way to see how much time is left in your term is to call in and ask.

Ask if you can renew you contract now to take advantage of the $35.95 rate.

Check to see if 6.0 is available at your house. Even on a contract it would be 40.95, barely more than what you're paying for twice the speed.

I don't understand why it would be more. If 6.0 is available it would be
45.95
-5 for RPP
-5 for LD Loyalty (assuming the other -3 goes away)?
+tax

is this right?

which is still less than what I pay?

i want to be sure i know what i'm talking about before i call. i assume upgrading to 6 wouldn't affect my 3 year RPP? would it reset it or would the current term continue?

oh and thanks for the help

The loyalty discount goes away with the new pricing.

My understanding you could get the lower price if you're renewing your contract.

The base price for new plans have been decreased but the 5.00 loyalty discount no longer applies.

The breakdown for 3.0 is 40.95-5 rpp= 35.95
for 6.0 it's 45.95-5 rpp= 40.95

Call in and see if you can get the new price. No harm in trying.

TELUS is notoriously known for not properly updating the correct rate of the current package. This is also because the agents who deals with the bills are not authorized to change it unless the customer says so. Dishonest business practice.

Everyone who has at least lived in the overseas for a while will know that internet in Canada is overpriced. And you get very little value.

Regarding contracts: If you think about it hard enough, TELUS will be the one benefitting from the people who pays by contract. It's a marketing scam which can be proven by marketeers or economists. At some point, TELUS will be pressured to decrease their rate because broadband is cheap now and youtube users have increased dramatically. And don't ever listen to the people who says that bandwidth is expensive. It isn't. The expenses is primarily from how the network is setup. This is why TELUS adopted ADSL2+ over FTTH because it is much cheaper --- much cheaper than they claimed.

I agree. Not changing pricing of a **CONTRACT** without customer consent is a dishonest practice.

Different market. The same goes for almost all products in Canada being more expensive than in the USA.. New cars are a great example.

Just how much does it cost? Seeing as you don't work for any telco you must have a really good idea about the costs involved in upgrades, so please enlighten us with the facts.
