Is there any reason to NOT use limewire?

I'm used to limewire, but I notice that some people don't like it. Is there any reason for me to NOT install it?

If there is, do you have an alternative that you would suggest?

Thank you, Jesse.

Is there something about Frostwire that's better than Limewire? Or are you just saying that you use it, and you don't have a problem with it?

the only reasons i can think of are fake files spam .. not being able to find rare things and of course resource hog .. thats why alot of ppl dont like it ... ive had it for a long time .. i never liked it .. i preferred winmx .. but then the owners shut it down

I like it and have used it for ahwile. You just have to overlook a couple of items it finds in your search. It finds most everything I need.

Thanks, everybody.

Confuzzle, do you have another program that you do like? I often like to look for some rare music too.

it's loaded with viruses, fake files, and rampant mis-labelled songs are a PITA.

Bit torrent is infinitely better, though initially more complicated to set up and get used to.

WinMX is up and running! You just need the pie patch available here: »www.mxpie.com/downloads.html

I've heard Limewire is backdoored by the RIAA so I would stay away from it. Same with many of the other p2p software. Best to go with torrents or news groups.

Torrents FORCE you to SHARE what you're downloading which is a risk of getting busted by the RIAA.

So, you admit to leeching?
Torrenting also allows for encrypting the data streams.

It's called filesharing for a reason.

Not really... you can limit your upload to whatever you want... it's no different than if you have limewire or winmx open... people can download from you if the program is running.

Yes I do admit to leeching because I sure as hell don't want to get busted by the RIAA!

I use Shareaza. It connects to limewire, gnutella 1 and 2, kazaa, morpheus, bearshare and edonkey. It also handles torrents well. I can throttle uploads to whatever speed I want. The only thing to watch for is when searching you will always get a list of obvious trijans or malware. Make sure if music it is in MP3 format and check the file size.
Other than that I don't know why this program isn't more well known.

A) It sucks
B) Lots of fakes, some of them are a virus(though they should be obvious
C) Most real filesharers use something else. You should too. They bring their good content with them.
D) Seems to be infested with copyright probers
E) umm oh yeah...it sucks

But seriously, try some other things. I might be having a sarcastic day, but I am really posting this for your benefit. Bit Torrent has endured and is still pretty good. There is also Usenet, which is fast and also safe, for anywhere from free to $15 or so a month. Free servers for Usenet can suck, but not as bad as the Gnutella network.
