Re: VHO For Albany, NY?

I read a while ago that the new VHO being built in Erie county would be used for Albany. I just saw today that FiosTV is now being offered in Orange County and Dutchess County.

Why has the availability of FiosTV for Albany been tied to the VHO being built in Erie? These counties are a lot closer to Albany than Erie.

Orange and Dutchess counties are being fed from the Flushing, Queens VHO, which is still probably closer than Erie County. The reason Albany will come from the Erie VHO may have to do with the overall national architecture of the fiber rings that deliver the service from the Super Head Ends in Florida and Illinois, I believe. And even though it may be a greater distance from the new VHO in western New York Vz may be trying to balance the overall number of subscribers served by each VHO to some extent.

Does anyone know the status of the VHO being built in Erie?

When is Verizon expected to actually start delivering Fios TV in Erie?

TV has been approved in Upstate NY in a few locations, Orchard Park and Hamburg. I think later this summer into the beginning of the fall would be a rough guess of when the VHO is ready to serve W NY areas approved for FIOS TV.

I talked went to the Kiosk in the mall last weekend and they told me October is the start date for Orchard Park. Testing will begin in September. Who knows if they know what they are talking about, but that is what I have heard.
