Can't access self-care page

I can no longer access my Cogeco self-care page. I am currently outside the Cogeco network, trying to access it from another provider in Brazil. I have previously had no problem accessing the page from Brazil, where I spend much of my time. And I had no problems accessing it last week in Canada, from my Cogeco connection.

Has something changed to prevent access from non-Cogeco IPs? Or is anyone else having similar problems. I just get a message telling me my browser cannot display the page. Other Cogeco pages, including Webmail, display fine. And I am not having any other surfing difficulties.

I need to access the page because I have video streaming outbound from my Cogeco connection and I want to track the bandwidth used.

If you try to access it 3 times with the wrong email or password it will lock you out. You will need to call Cogeco to have it unlocked (1-866-879-7179). Also, if you don't know the password and want to change it you will need ID handy to provide the phone rep before any private info can be changed.

Cheers

Yes, Jan 2008 a change was made to enhance security by allowing online account management only from within the Cogeco network. You could use RDP or VPN to tunnel to your home PC if you require access regularly.

Thanks Krispy. I'll be interested to see what Cogeco says if I exceed my bandwidth limit while they prevent me from seeing how much bandwidth I have used. A VPN is not possible, since I am currently in Brazil, my PC in Canada is turned off and I have no way of configuring it remotely. But I appreciate the suggestion.

They will say, "You are receiving this message as Cogeco's monitoring system has detected excess bandwidth utilization coming to/from your system."

If you PM me some way to find your account (typically I ask for the cable modem mac from the sticker on the modem but since you're abroad that might not work for you) I can see what I can do to ensure you get notices, etc.

If your PC is turned off it is unlikely that you will exceed your bandwidth limit.

Actually, it is possible. I have other services running through a router that use bandwidth. There are many things one can do with an Internet connection that don't require a PC to be turned on.
