| Surpasshosting.com issues
Any one else here having trouble with Surpass lately!!??
My wife's websites have been non-functional for days, her clients are ticked off as well as her other hosting accounts!
Surpass doesn't seem to care about fixing the issues with the databases/PHP. They keep returning help desk tickets as fixed when they do not even work! GRRRR>>>
Jen is about to have me switch to another hosting provider! All this after we just purchased numerous SSL certs a few weeks ago and dedicated IPs, now we are going to lose all this fricken $$$$.
I do not know what to do!!????

We haven't had any servers with serious downtime lately. We are, however, working to upgrade PHP and MySQL on several servers, so it's possible that your scripts may not be compatible. You should have received a notification if our support team was working on upgrading PHP/MySQL on your server.
Either way, please IM me any ticket numbers you have open, and I'll gladly have a look at them. |

That may be it, because it seems like the PHP config is all screwed up. I know the scripts are compatible, heck they are right there in fantastico in the CP, lol. Everything works fine except for anything that relies on mySQL and PHP.
Sorry to be so "angry", just very frustrated as I have Jen's customers and clients, as well as Jen, jumping down my throat, lol.

| They changed a bunch of php config on me.
1 allow_url_fopen is now off, I had to rewrite those in cURL.
2 Magic quotes are disabled now.
3 Php now has SOAP enabled, which broke NuSOAP.
4 URL parameters don't work like they used to, not sure what controls that. |

1) allow_url_fopen is the easiest method to hack a website. Turning it ON is suicidal.
2) Magic quotes can be enabled using a local php.ini/.htaccess file depending on your server configuration.
3) SOAP is provided along with php5, and that's the industry standard as far as I know.
4) Surpass does provide you option to switch back to php4. They even notified me well in advance before they upgraded php/mysql |

| For the record, this issue was related to Gemologist 's scripts being incompatible with MySQL 5, which recently replaced MySQL 4 on his server. Our 3rd Level Support team went the extra mile in this case and rewrote the code in several scripts to make it behave with MySQL 5.
