| Getting a package deal.
Alright, So I currently live in Gatineau QC and have been with Videotron internet and very basic cable for 2 years now. I pay 94$ a month for the cable i-net and cable alone. The internet is 10mbps and isn't toggled at all! I love their internet but I'm not content with the price and cable.
What I am looking for with bell is a package deal with home phone, i-net and a really good cable package. What is the best route in getting this setup to get the most bang for my buck?
I need a high download limit and I may be getting a HD TV in the near future. Anyone have any tips I should use when talking to the CSRS to get me a good deal?

Biggest bang for your buck would be to stay with videotron and move your phone over with them for about 10$/more per month (it will give you additional rebates to do so).
Bell can't offer you close to 10-meg internet in gatineau, Also Bell is throttled.
Some area's of Gat are lucky to have 1-meg, some who live close to the CO have 5-7-meg DSL.
But thats just my opinion... |

damn... I was hoping to be convinced to switch hehe. Well, I learned that people with videotron can negotiate with retentions upon contract renewal, maybe I can save a few bucks by going that route. |

You can look at 100 recent created threads, it is very hard for you to find one thread that there is a new Bell Sympatico proud to say he/she a new Bell Sympatico subscriber... All you see is people complain, leaving, complain, leaving, etc... hard to find someone saying he/she happy as a Bell Sympatico customer in this forum... and it is somehow opposite in the TekSavvy forum...
Something Bell management have to take a look to fix the problem. |

First of all, Bell is too BIG to be "nice."
one of the best advantage Teksavvy has is that they are small, flexible, and thin layered structure all which translate to better and more efficient service.
Plus. Teksavvy focuses on particular services [recently home phone], whereas Bell is like..everywhere.
Same goes for Rogers, although its not as big as Bell..but still so big.
Telus too [ARGH I HATE THEIR VOICE COMMAND HELP CENTRE, SOOO ANNOYING]
So yeah, so-called "bundle" and "discount" is like bribing you to consume unnecessary products that is not required. Remember that these bundles sometimes come with three year contract. Teksavvy, serving one of the kind service, has no contract. I honestly think contract is evil...locking up consumers who just realize they have been screwed over and must face consequence if they ever wanted to switch provider who is better at everything.
I like Cogeco though. Their price is reasonable..and so much cheaper than Bell [Cable network]. |

I wrote a post on the Videotron section that compares Bell and Videotron in many aspects. It is in french though (hopefully you speak french). Warning though: it is a long read, and also, it may not help at all.

My current opinion is stay with Videotron, because my move was not a good experience. The downfall for you with VL though is that you say you need a high download limit. If that means more than 100Gb, then you might not want to stay with VL. But if it's enough, I'd say stay with them. |
