| 'strips' of tiling in HD *and* SD VOD?
Overall I've been happy with FIOS TV, with two exceptions:
Guide data is often stale, or generic.
The bigger issue is VOD. HD and SD VOD has strips of tiling pretty frequently, to the point that it's annoying. Sound doesn't cut out, but lines of distortion appear every couple minutes. Is this 'normal'? |

| reply to worg in the meantime you could check out the health of your moca network in the router. check my network>network connections>network>coax stats.
your speeds should ideally be above 200Mbps.
if you've monkeyed around w/ the router in the past, reset it to default and see if it behaves. |

| reply to worg Wow, FIOS tech support may be worse than Comcast.
First, I called, and they had me go through all the regular troubleshooting (which I expected), no difference. So they scheduled a tech to come out.
They day comes and goes, no tech. I call back, they say that my ticket is there, but never made it to Virginia, so it was never put on a tech schedule.
Ok, fine. I ask if they can reschedule. The tech says "we have to do the troubleshooting". I said it was just done two days ago. But apparently he can't reschedule a tech visit unless we do it again.
Ok, fine. We go through the troubleshooting steps. Then he says something odd. He said my pixelization is being caused by my component cables between my cable box and my TV. I ask him what he means a couple different ways to make sure I understand. I'm getting interference that appears to be blocks of pixelation, and my sound cuts out, because of my analog component cables going from my cable box to my tv? (my audio is digital optical, btw). He insists it's so, and FIOS will not cover those cables...
He says there will be a $91 charge to send someone out if it turns out to be my component cables. I try again to suggest that it is probably not the component cables. But he insists it is, since my guide information is correct, but my VOD (and regular channels sometimes) gets horizontal blockiness.
I say fine, the charge will be fine if it's my component cables :-p |
