Where should I host my website?

My host has become unreliable. I am looking for a cheap ($50 a year) place that gives some phone support. Godaddy?

Yes as Thinkdiff See Profile mentioned try. Just keep in mind there is quite a bit of self-promotion by webhosts in that forum.

Just a note, if your domain is currently registered with Godaddy, then you should definitely not use Godaddy as the webhost. It is good practice to keep your domain registrar and webhost separate. It prevents one service from being held hostage for the advantage of the other service.

It will be a Mac all website if that makes a difference

It will be created on the Mac, and maintained with Macs.

Doesn't really make a difference at all. Any webhost should give you FTP access, and that's pretty much the same on any platform.

Not likely to find decent host with phone service for $4 a month. Maybe go up to $9 or so.

I considered many other hosts before choosing 24hostingnow, but found 24hostingnow's prices to be very competitive for the services that they offered.
I have found their service and support to be very professional and helpful.

So I would like to suggest 24hostingnow ...........

Interesting, in that your friend 72245779 See Profile had exactly the same recommendation! »24HostingNow.com

They are a reseller of The Planet it seems:

Name Servers:
NS1.24hostingnow.com - 74.55.12.251
NS2.24hostingnow.com - 74.55.12.252

They might have been impacted by The Planet datacenter fire. That's my guess

If you are looking for a host with pretty high limits I would check out »www.site5.com. I have been with them for about three years. They also have a pretty active forum where you can post questions and get a reply fairly quickly.

Wow! If you find a place like this LMK. I think everyone would jump in. The place I go through is about $20/mo. Host Gator is good, but your're still looking at $25/mo.

I just started my business and chose hostmonster.com. I liked the price and there are no limits on disk space or bandwidth. Plus, I was able to get a human on the phone for the 2 questions I had. its a bit more than $5 a month, but, it's pretty good.

Best web host I have ever had.

GoDaddy Sucks - BTDT - They block ports, some Apachie features/capabilities do not work properly or at all in .htaccess, blah, blah, blah...
