[OS X] Odd Bugs Now Gone

When I was still running Tiger, I noticed that apps like VLC and browsers would crash somewhat frequently. I also noticed a bug that would not let opera minimize after visiting a page that used certain java code no matter what version of Opera I used. Since upgrading to Leopard I have not had these problems with the exception of Yahoo IM occasionally thinking it crashed when I just closed it. I haven't had even 1 kernel panic since upgrading to Leopard. Anyone else notice an improvement in stability with the OS and applications since upgrading?

VLC is still an unstable mess for me. Works great for awhile, then it just craps out all of a sudden for no reason. That's more VLC's fault than anything else though.

Safari also randomly crashes when I open too many pages.

Otherwise, everything else has been stable.

About VLC, I have to agree, it has to be one of, if not the most unstable program I've used. I haven't used an app this bad since Netscape Communicator 4.

That said Google Earth is quickly getting to that same level of unstableness. I've had quite a bit of problems from it ranging from display corruption to just plain locking up the machine.

VLC is an unstable beastie, especially when seeking thru high definition .MKV files... Craps out often. And when it does, and if the movie I was playing happened to have 5.1 sound, I have to reboot because there is no more system sound.

That's one odd error.

Google Earth opens at about 400 megs of real memory for me, the problem is it KEEPS growing... it'll eat every last bit of available RAM I have, and then not return all of it upon exit- behavior seems to exist on every Mac I've tried it on.
