Am I in the right place?

I got a questions that I think some of you might be able to help me with.

I'd like to know if the fact that my house is old(built before 1960), would make my DSL run terribly slow no matter what because of the old phone wires.

Unlikely. I have seen more than one customer with circa 1948 wiring running at 5M no problem. Age alone doesn't necessarily imply bad DSL performance.

Maybe. Depends on the wires in the house. Depends more on the distance from the central office. If the wires in the house are in poor shape (usually that means the connections in the jacks) then it could. If you post some stats from your modem it would help others diagnose.

It's Raptor200637, I just logged in xD. What kind of stats from my modem do you need exactly?

I got a Thompson Speedtouch 585i v6 as a modem.

It should have something about your connection stats. Most modems do, but some are hard to find it. I am not sure on that one, but I am sure someone will be able to tell you.
