need a new headset

In short,

My motorola H505 seems to have a bad battery now, and increasingly frustrating how it goes into "low battery" beeping fits even after I'd spent the night charging the thing up like it should be.

So I need something new.

The problem is, the reason I went with the h505 was because of the fact that it just rested up against the ear. I see that the overwhelming majority of both wired and wireless headsets are the kind that have something going into the ear. And in short, those are painfully uncomfortable for me.

I tried to get away with a cheap Jabra BT2010 headset to see if maybe it would be okay, but with the size of its bud, I'd felt like i'd boxed a few rounds with Tyson. And right now I am trying out this Plantronics 655 (which IMO I paid way too much for), and even with its smallest ear bud, it's still causing me pain.

I don't know what to do... get another h5** headset, or if there's another brand I can try?

I just got a Plantronics Voyager 510. Quality seem very nice and battery life is great. I really don't feel like I am wearing a headset unless I turn my head.

Out of anything I feel it a bit in my ear but not over it. Got it at newegg for $43.99.

The Aliph Jawbone with Jabra ear gels is very comfortable. with the various sizes of ear hooks and ear gels, it's customizable to almost any ear.

The plantronics I had had ear gels, but even then it was painful to wear.

»www.engadget.com/2008/04/10/alip···exposed/ You mean this?

No. That still has an earpiece.

How much clearer can I make it? I cannot wear anything that has something going in the ear. Because every single one I've tried has been so incredibly painful, I couldn't even have a simple conversation with anyone without it making me feel like I'd been punched there.

Like I said, Motorola H710. I hate in-the-ear headsets for the same reason.

Cannot afford an h710. They're still $100 @ best buy.

I had tried to get this set of bluetooth stereo headphones, but now I find out that they are apparently illegal for use in a car. So now I have to return these and try to find something else.

Well then hunt around for a H700. Pretty much the same headset, but dicontinued. You should be able to get a good price on one now.

The h700 and h710 were both $100 each at best buy.

Try Ebay for the H700.

I've seen decent deals for the H700 on Amazon and eCost.

I have a Jabra BT350 that does NOT go in the ear. It simply rests against the ear but never extends into the canal. The sound quality is decent and the battery life is very good. It is a basic unit but does what I want and doesn't cost a fortune. Here it is on Amazon for $19.95
