[Mobo] CPU-Z Question

Click for full size
I'm running a Q6600 at stock speed of 2.4ghz with 4 gigs of G. Skill PC6400 Ram with Vista 64 bit as the OS. I have tightened the memory timings from stock 5-5-5-15 to 4-4-4-12 at 1.9v. and it runs fine. However, I see from CPU-Z that I am only running at 266 fsb on the RAM. I want it to run 1:1 like it says it is but shouldn't the fsb of the RAM be higher?

The Q6600 has a stock FSB of 266 x 4 hence the memory will run at 266 x 2. So you have nothing to worry about you are running at 1:1.

Simply because you set RAM:FSB ratio to 1:1 ....
If you set ratio to auto, even FSB set to 266, the board will run RAM at 400MHz.

1:1 at your RAM's stock speed would be a CPU overclock to 3.6ghz.

With that being said. Which is better generally, Ram at 266 running 1:1 with slightly tighter timings. Or Ram on "Auto" and running @400?

When overclocking, people prefer 1:1 ratio ... in which they also OC the RAM.

As you run at stock speed on CPU, RAM @ 266Mhz (C4), of course, does NOT run faster than RAM @ 400MHz (C5).

People use lower CAS (but still at RAM rated speed)to archive better result when benching only.

IE: RAM rated 800MHz, CAS 4 (PC6400 C4), OCers would prefer run 1:1 (FSB:RAM) ratio to get better result (with SuperPI, WPrime,...). For higher FSB, they willing to loose CAS latency to get what they need. That's reason why people try to get low CAS latency RAM so when OCing, they still can raise the ratio to "acceptable" number (let's say: C5)
