| I need a VGA cooler (8800GT)
Last night I was playing NWN2 & when I ALT-Tabbed to check my thermals on my card it was at 84C to me that is pretty damn high. I can only imagine what those thermals were when I was playing Crysis. Anyway I really like those Zalman fans but I can't seem to find one that fit's my 8800GT any suggestions?
My card: BFG NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT OC2 512MB PCIe 2.0 »www.bfgtech.com/bfgr88512gtoc2e.aspx
I would prefer a fan solution Gaming: 80-83 C Idle: 63C |

| You don't really need another cooler for those temps on the 8800GT. The 8800GT can handle those temps with no probs.
You may want to try downloading Rivatuner and set it to crank up the fans at lower temps. This will usually keep the card pretty cool. I upped my core clock to 700 and memory clock to 980, set fan speed to 85% and it usually hovers around 78C under load. Before changing the fan speeds it would be ~85C, but still ran with no problems.
This is a decent start to see how to do this »www.guru3d.com/article/rivatuner···k-guide/

I have one on my 8800 gtx and one on my wife's 8800 gts g92 version.
With the GT version, I don't think you need the addition heatsink for the memory. I just used the blue self stick heatsinks it came with.
Hope that helps

| reply to Techie714 bump up your fan speed as it on runs like at half speed and never really spools up...get riva tuner first and see if that does it for you as it may save you the time and money...i myself have the 8800GT and riva has done just fine over the last 7 months |

| reply to Techie714 Thanks for the comment guys. I took the Riva suggestion & I'll see what that does. Funny thing is I posted this same comment at the Maximum PC forum & got like ONE response. I posted here & got a bunch. That Maximum PC forum is pretty much dead. You would think that forum would filled with people talking shop about rigs, cooling, etc. |
