 Accelero S1 rev.2 on Sapphire HD 3870

Click for full size
Gitting rid of the stock cooler
Click for full size
Cleaned the chips and added RAM heatsinks

New cooler in place

Moment of truth!
This is actually the first time I have ever 'modding' something so I'd thought I'd share the joy
I just couldn't stand the noise the stock Sapphire single slot cooler made, each time it broke the 40 C barrier it was like an aircraft was taking of. Now it sits idle at 38 C and under full load 61 C, 0 dB off course
I'm already looking for a passive CPU cooler if that even exists?

I just put one of those on my 3870. It works awesome with the chip not getting over 70C ever.

Unfortunately temp was not holding me back on my OC. I still get 850/1250 max.

On the upside, you now have one that is passively cooled, and thus can theoretically last you forever.

The downside is you won't be able to do CrossFire X now.
