I just switched to verizon and I got a westell 7500 gateway. Is there anyway to tweek it so that I can improve my up/down speed and ping. Right now I have 649kbps/53kbps up/down and ping time of 202ms. |

| reply to ascolillo OK, first of all can you post your line stats from the modem? Also, make sure that there is no one using the internet there and run a speed test with that, and a trace route. That should be what we need to figure this out. |

| It looks like the trace route you posted is originating in the Dallas/Fort Worth Texas area from a Time Warner cable account. Post a trace route FROM your your Verizon DSL circuit. It should look similar to this from a Verizon DSL circuit:

| Ok, you can probable tell I'm not that great at this.
I only have one computer directly connected to the gateway. The only other authorized user is an xbox 360 which accesses the via the wireless outside the firewall in the DMZ. Should I close down the firewall and virus software during the test?

| Hi First of all, your modem isn't synching at the correct speeds. They are close, but not what they should be. You are showing Transceiver Information Down Stream Path Up Stream Path DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 3358 863 They should be DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 3360 864 That may make some difference since your modem isn't synching correctly. Looks like to me that you have a problem between your computer and the CO.I think there might be a problem with your line from the CO to your computer... |

| Hi That is something you can either call up tech support or perhaps better is to try the direct forum that is part of this Verizon DSL Forum. How far away are you from the CO also? I would also try a virus scan, trojan scan and anti spyware scan too. |
