| [Help Me] cannot connect wii with di-524
hi there,
i just got a wii, but have difficulty connecting to internet.
i have a dlink di-524 router ver a. the firmware version was 1.05. when i tried to set up internet connection, the wii machine cannot find the router. instead, it did find some other access points in the neighbourhood.
then i researched online and decided to update the firmwire to 1.23. it's still not working. even worse, i could no longer change wireless settings of the router with this firmware. (i was using firefox, but i tried on ie as well and it's the same result)
so i decided to go back to 1.05. however, the internet (pppoe) couldn't be connected. I also tried 1.11 and got the same result. i had to go back to 1.23 and the internet was back, but still cannot change wireless settings and connect to wii.
i also tried to set up manually, but got 51030 error code. according to nintendo router list, i tried to set up dmz, but the problem is i dont know the ip address of the wii, as it couldnt get one from dhcp.
anyone can pls help? it seems to me that overall dlink routers may not be good for wii, as most of them need specific settings. how about linksys wrt54g?
thanks.... |

| reply to breathe Do yourself a favor and get the WRT54GL instead. So much better than the WRT54G model, these days. -- Got a Clark,Crown,Drexel forklift and need technical advice? Ask me about it. |

| reply to breathe Some of those di-524's are problems with wireless ... but it could also be the centrino in the laptop, that needs fine tuning in the wireless advanced settings of the dlink.
Otherwise, get another dlink router or from another brand, as the earlier posted suggested. |

| reply to breathe I'm having a similar issue with the DI-524. I can connect to the internet via the Wii using my DI-524 wireless router; however, I have intermittent connectivity. I can't stay connected long enough to play games on-line with others. I even placed the router 6 feet from my Wii with a direct line of sight, and it made no difference. Any help would be appreciated. |
