 UPS BE 750 Question

ok I got a small unit for TV, cable box etc, My boyfriend shut it off cause it was beeping all afternoon long today. When I turned it back on the power light would go green but the go red and beep again. So I thought.. mm an empty wire not connected. let's remove this. but then once I removed it and turned it back on it starting humming almost like an old pc'S hard disk on which you hear the writing.. any idea what that can be?

How old is it? Battery may be gone and that is why it was beeping.

Is it several years old? Continuous beeping usually means overload, intermittent beeping may mean a replacement battery is needed.

Have you tested this UPS in a simulated power outage (unplugging unit from the wall) with all the loads connected to make sure it can handle everything plugged in?

when it went off, it would beep and I never tested it with no power on though maybe the battery was defective all this time. but it's just the humming noise that was scary until I unplugged the battery.

Hah I bought one at that time, too. I have it hooked up to my router and VoIP equipment. It still works fine.

Contact APC's support staff thru this page »www.apc.com/support/index.cfm

The loud hum may be part of normal operation or may be an indicator that something is about to go *POOF* and let some black smoke out.

Best to discuss it with people who actually know their own product instead of a bunch of know-it-alls and wannabes on the net
