Does anyone have a fix on Comcasts' DNS IP #'s? Is it possible that they won't change from the existing ones? It would be nice if they were stable DNS's. |

Could you zap me an email to roach@dcc-racing.org and tell me what network your IP is on? (just the first 3 octets of your IP address).
I'm not trying to find out your IP I'm in Viola and if I wasn't a network guy in real life I'd still be offline since the Wed. of Doom 1.5 weeks ago.
The morons @Home don't even know what network addresses they are using, nor how anything is routed. 4 hours of phone calls to them left me in a rage (Oh, but they sure do know how to power cycle a modem!)... I had to run a packet sniffer on the network, steal an IP based on the arp traffic I was seeing, and config it staticly to get connected.
My machine configured as a 68.34.52.X IP and works... sort of. It's a little flakey as I think the network is not exactly the one I should be on, but their routing is so messed up I actually get connectivity. Of course there's no reverse DNS for these IP blocks so many sites are not accessable.
Anyway, I'm curious to know what network you're on and if it would work better for me, or at all. If you wouldn't mind sending me the network address (or your gateway address, whatever) I would greatly appreciate it).
Thanks, Brian Roach roach@dcc-racing.org |
