New firmware for the M1000

Looks like Qwest has new firmware out for the M1000. Version QA02.

I haven't tried it yet, so cannot say what's changed or fixed...

What is funny, just yesterday I decided to go back to my old modem (Actiontec 1524). There are a couple of things I don't like about the M1000 firmware, so decided to use my old modem until they released new firmware for the M1000. Less than 2 days later and they have new firmware out...

-Dynamic Memory usage added ensuring the modem will not lock during high usage periods
-Increased GUI input validation defending against script attacks
-Increased cache resilience with reboot and restore commands
-New default telnet password
-Updated WiFi code providing enhanced wireless performance
-PPPoE MTU Issue Resolved in QA02 which caused some customers to have trouble accessing secure (HTTPS) web sites
-The GUI has been redesigned with all new graphics for ease of use and to reduce the number of steps needed to change settings

I love the graphics! its circles

Yeah, the new one is pretty. However, now my modem thinks it is Sep. 8, 2002! I can't find any way to change the date and time- will it autoupdate?

I updated to the latest FW and think it might be causing connection speed problems and reverting is a pain. So I can't tell just yet if it's the FW that is causing my connection speed problems or if I am having the problems that a lot of other Qwest DSL users are.

I am trying ASAP to revert and Qwest makes it easy to a point and the fact that the resources are there to revert are great!

So . . . off to fight the war.

and....? Changing the time zone won't change the date or the year.

out of curiosity do you have the correct time and date on your computer? me thinks the computer should feed the modem the correct info.

UPDATE!

Had Qwest at the house all day yesterday and they could not find a thing wrong. But before they started pocking and prodding, I had all kinds of connection weirdness. Then after they got done with their tests, all was back to normal and my speed up where it should be. So . . . . it looks as though the urban myth of Qwest needing to kick the tires every so often is true.

One I did learn from two independent Qwest sources is that the new software on the M1000 will only do you any good on the 7MBps lines. Slower, may cause problems. Faster, the M1000 should not be your modem.
