[netopia] Static route does not work on 3346-02 SBC DSL

I have 3346N-02 SBC DSL with 5 static ip. I bought a layer 3 switch(Netgear) and configured with 3 VLANs. I like all 3 VLANs be able to connect the internet. All 3 VLANs ping just fine but it can't ping the Netopia Router ip (192.168.1.254) except the VLAN that has Netopia connected. I added static route to the Netopia but it still does not work. Please help . thanks

VLAN 1 - 192.168.1.X ( ALSO has Netopia connected )
VLAN 2 - 192.168.2.x ( clients)
VLAN 3 - 192.168.3.x (servers)

Add static route in Netopia
VLAN2-
Network Destination: 192.168.2.0
SMask: 255.255.255.0
GateWay: 192.168.1.254

VLAN3-
Network Destination: 192.168.3.0
SMask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.254

never setup the static routes in the netopia before, but shouldn't the gateway for the static route be the IP of the VLAN connected to the netopia?

You are right. I put in both the gateway of the vlan and the ip of the netopia device itself. There is no luck

- In Netopia Router
Static route:
192.168.2.0 ----> 192.168.1.254 ( Netopia Router IP address)
192.168.2.0 ----> 192.168.1.1 ( Vlan Gateway)

192.168.3.0 ----> 192.168.1.254 ( Netopia Router IP address)
192.168.3.0 ----> 192.168.1.1 ( Vlan Gateway)

I have no experience with VLANs on a Netopia either, but the Nortel VLANs required a default gateway in the IP range of the VLAN (ie for 192.168.2.x some default route like 192.168.2.1, and for 192.168.3.x some default route like 192.168.3.1

With a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 I do not see how the 192.168.2.x subnet can 'see' to 192.168.1.1

after checking a couple i have had setup for a while, i think you need the routes setup in your netgear and your pc, but not necessarily in your 3346.

for example, my microwave links and the devices on them are setup as follows:

server and local LAN 10.2.61.X
microwave on LAN side 10.2.61.100
microwave at remote LAN 10.2.62.100
remote LAN 10.2.62.X

all subnets are 255.255.255.0

the remote LAN has a route added with 10.2.61.x thru gateway 10.2.62.100 the microwave is setup to route it across.

so this makes me think you need to tell the netgear to add a static route to send the 192.168.1.x traffic out that port, and add a SR in each machine/device on teh other VLANS to go thru their corresponding gateway to reach it. same thing if you want to route from 192.1.x to .2.x or .3.x the netopia should not care, your machine will route to teh 192.168.1.x ip of the netgear.
