[Speed] Comcast slow in San Jose - Sunday 6/1/08

Running Speedtest I'm getting this for San Jose server results (have 16/2 pkg, live in San Jose)

2070 kb/s down / 2167 kb/s up (Ping = 21 ms)

For San Francisco server :

29051 kb/s down / 2097 kb/s up (Ping = 31 ms)

For LA server :

28244 kb/s down / 1984 kb/s up (Ping = 20 ms)

For Portland, OR server :

25562 kb/s down / 2265 kb/s up (Ping = 28 ms)

Gee I thought San Jose was the ' Capital of Silicon Valley "

I think Comcast here also hit a roadblock..Speedtest comes out okay..but surfing is slow, it was fine just a little bit ago..seems like its speeding back up but slowly.

I live in San Jose (North Valley), and web surfing is unbearably slow. Each page takes too long to render. I am thinking to call comcast to find out what's happening.

Well, I called comcast customer service. The guy asked me to power down my computer, router, and cable modem. Then, I power them up in reverse order. Web pages do seem to load noticeably faster. They guy also have use this page to test:

down: 12445 kbps
up: 1563 kbps

I'm experiencing poor performance (packet loss, slow downloads) as well. On phone now with Comcast support rep. Was able to detect packet loss. If you're having problems, suggest that you call, too. Perhaps they'll get the message and look into it.
