Your System -June 2008

Post your system specs if you've built/bought a new system during the month of June.

If you've changed your system, put "ADDED" next to the new component(s).

If you haven't changed anything - don't post!

YOUR SYSTEMS (PART 2)

@verizon.net

Just bought (about a week ago) a Toshiba X205-SLI2 laptop.
It was on a closeout sale at Best Buy for 1109$ due to it having a HD-DVD drive in it (they are going all Blue ray).
The original price was 1729$ so I feel I got a pretty swinging deal, Newegg still has them listed in the 1600$ range.

Specs:
T8100 Penryn 45nm CPU @2.1 Ghz
Dual 160G HDD's
2 gigs DDR2@667 (now has 4gigs of OCZ in dual channel (2x2)).
Aforementioned HD-DVD, will burn DL DVD, etc.
Dual nVidia 8600M GT in SLI with 512M onboard.
17" screen @ 1440x900
Intel pro ABGN wireless
Onboard gigabit wired
Biometric fingerprint scanner
6 USB2.0 ports
HDMI output
Killer Harmon Kardon onboard speakers w\subwoofer (sounds phenominal for a lappy)
Absolutely awesome looking with a glossy red\black finish outside and piano black on the inside.
Vista home premium (hey, I'm getting used to it) that I have hacked the dreamscene Ultimate desktop background onto (plays an animated background w\o hogging resources).
Dual purpose touchpad, if you have a mouse plugged in you can change it to be a shortcut keypad that is programmable for function.

Yep, it's a beast, prolly 9+ pounds and has the "brick of Doom" power brick (prolly 3-4 pounds in it's self).

I like it

Bad, bad angle.

Who said you can't mix brands and timings?

50C both cores under 1 hour of orthos.

With the PSU in a non-traditional position, cable management is sacrificed.

The best HTPC card out there, onboard sound decoder for HDMI

Shaved off the height by placing PSU up front

Under my workstation, case is almost as small as my custom Z-5500 sub
Built up a "beater" comp from spare parts I had piling up:

Specs:
Cheapie Rosewill case - forgot the model#, had it lying around
Noctua 120mm exhaust with CPU duct from an old Antec case
AMD Athlon X2 3800+ with a freezer 64Pro heatsink - hand-me-down
2x 512MB Kingston DDR400 - from old system
2x 512MB Corsair XMS 3200C2 - from my P4 old gaming system
Total of 2GB at 400MHz 2.5-3-3-7
ASRock 939Dual-SataII motherboard - found in a dumpster, all SATA ports, sound, USB, ethernet doesn't work
Sapphire 2600XT PCIe: bought it for an HTPC that never materialized
60GB Seagate Barracuda V - from my old "fatty" PS2
Generic USB card - mobo USB headers don't work
Netgear 10/100 Ethernet card
Silverstone Strider 400w - old P4 gaming system
Modded PSU with a Noctua 120mm fan

No CD/DVD drive - I install stuff using a shared dvd-drive with drive mapping.

Old Dell P990 19" Trinitron CRT - got it for $5 at a garage sale
Old Logitech keyboard - got it for $1 at a garage sale
Microsoft Optical 3-button mouse - got it for $1 at a garage sale

It's quiet, boots up quick, plays guild-wars/tf2/wc3/bf2 nicely when friends come over. Small enough to stuff it in the backseat of my car for lanning.
