IcEr3KPremium join:2001-01-19 Los Angeles, CA | FTP Server Well, I have a FTP Server and I use Serv-U-FTP 3.0 and I can't have people log on. I have a Linksys BEFSR41 router with latest firmware. How can I get it to work?
I set it to forward ports 0-65535 and it still won't work. -- My cool site is located at: »ppn.xnogamer.net/~icer3k (Please join! I need members. ) |

Look at this post for some more detailed info.
Also, when you setup Serv-U, you need to specify your WAN IP address for passive mode and then the same range of high ports you forwarded in the Linksys.
Try a search on this forum for Serv-U and FTP and you'll find some other good discussions on this topic. Hope this helps you. If not, let us know. |

jw55505Fish HeadPremium join:2001-11-28 Mechanicsville, VA | reply to IcEr3K Forwarding ports 0-65535 is a REALLY bad idea for all kinds of reasons. What ports do you have forwarded in the Linky right now? Can you make a connection to your ftp server across the LAN inside the Linky? Try connecting across the LAN using PORT mode. This will eliminate the Linky and that will tell you if you have a basic setup problem with Serv-U. |

First, change the range 19-22 to 21-21.
Then in the first screen, make sure passive port range matches the range of ports being forwarded in the router. Then the second screen, make sure "allow passive mode, use IP" match the IP of the WAN port on the Linksys. Also double check and make sure Serv-U is running on port 21 |

Six1 join:2001-05-01 Chesterfield, VA | reply to IcEr3K I found the setting to ALLOW PASSIVE MODE DATA TRANSFERS, use IP.... selection. Was selected.. couldnt get a log on trial and error I found out that for some reason it didnt update when it was first selected. Try reselecting it, refreshing settings, and might want to restart the server.. Also I have my real world IP there....
Good Luck |

Rezzin join:2001-03-01 Anaheim, CA | You ever have any luck in getting your ftp server to provide a dir listing on a non-standard port? FTP works fine on the LAN, just can't seem to get clients to pull a dir listing from the server. Logging in works fine. |
|
jw55505Fish HeadPremium join:2001-11-28 Mechanicsville, VA | Rezzin, when running on a non-standard port with the linksys, clients can only connect using PORT mode. PASV won't work. That's most likely why they can't get a dir listing.
