I've tried them all free MPEG-2 codecs and FFDShow's is the only one that satisfies me. |

| reply to Oleg said by Oleg :K-Lite codec pack. I'd do that, but only as a last resort. The only reason is, my player has built in codecs so I don't want to add more than I have to.
Ideally, since that just combines a bunch of codecs, I'd just install whichever one made DVDs work.
In the mean time though, as I said, I have it working with FFDShow. |

| reply to Trel I use DVDFab and it's worked great - only two discs wouldn't work and they were so bad they glitched my DVD-R as well. -- "While you can teach an old dog new tricks, you simply can't teach him to be a cat."

| reply to cvrefugee said by cvrefugee :Install this and when the configuration comes up, make sure you select MPEG-2 under the decoding options. You can then play DVDs in Windows Media Player. I already had that (on mine). I was hoping for something more complete, but I guess I'll throw dvd43 on his computer as well Thanks
(Also, with your method, there's a DVD Playback checkbox you need to check as well, it appears when you select mpeg2 from the list) |

| My brother's dell came with Cine. It sucks, it crashes on scratched dvds that all our other computers have no trouble handling, and if you right click on the video are (which is how you access the file and options menu on the player we use), it pops up a Cine dialog which makes it near impossible to use whatever program you were.
Is there a good free DVD Decoding software for windows that can be used instead? -- /chown -R us:us /yourbase |
