[Need Info] Multi Monitor Software

I was looking at UltraMon for software that would let me make better use of a dual monitor set up and was wondering if anyone else uses it or has suggestions for something similar that does the same thing.

I read about UltraMon here

Thanks Doc, so it looks like they all do about the same thing.

So now that you pointed me in that direction which one works the best for you?

I have not tried the Zenview Manager or UltraMon yet. I've only used the Built in Windows software with the MultiMonitor TaskBar extender and it is OK.

I use UltraMon and thus far I like it alot - it has served all my needs for now. I use two 24in screens on my setup.

UltraMon here as well. 2x 21" at work and 19" at home works great, love it.

For you guys who use UltraMon, do you have dual output video cards or do you use a DVI splitter?

I'm planning on using a splitter for my set up.

I have a dual head card.

I though a splitter just gives you the same image on both monitors?

Without any third party software you can extend your desktop to both monitors using the built in Windows software. It will pick up both monitors and you pick the primary which will have the task bar and then have it extend your desktop to the second monitor. Then you have to do the drag thing to move windows to the second monitor.

That is what lead me to look for something with more functionality like a taskbar on each monitor or the ability to open applications automatically on the second monitor.

Well now I see the error in my thinking.

The Dells we use at work have a splitter with the connections labeled 1 and 2 which will allows a single video card to see two separate monitors and allows you to drag windows from one monitor to the other.

The splitter cable I purchased clones the same screen on both monitors and it is seen as a single monitor by Windows.

So I guess it's off to find a different splitter cable or a video card with dual DVI outputs.

Thanks for your input guys.
