Canadian ISP offering the GTA DSL including Usenet service

I'm finally giving up on Sympatico after nearly 10 years or so.
I'm looking for a Canadian HS ISP serviving the GTA, their service should also include USENET offer, which I will only need for (none) binary purpose. The Usenet will only be mainly used for reading and posting.

*please, any recommendation will be truly appreciated*

We're not allowed to discuss Teksavvy here, but if you hop over to Teksavvy's forum, you will find that it offers text only usenet access with its default service, and if you get a fixed IP at $4.00 you get access to binaries as well.

Doesn't Google groups fit this bill? Been using that since the day dejanews "died".

Currently I only see 1 ISP (Nexicom.net) offer DSL including usenet service with unlimited bandwidth + no cap download speed.

TekSavvy, you have to pay $4 static IP in order to access usenet and it is limited to 1Mbps download speed... Not good...

The extra $4 and static is only if you want access to binaries, not text. The OP only wants text access.

How long is the retention rate for teksavvy newsgroup? Do they have all the binaries groups?

Thanks!

30 days when I had it, and all the same groups as usenet. You are actually paying for access to usenet, thru TSI, for the $4 extra.

Once again, the OP only wants text-only access, not binary access.

That's correct - Nexicom is currently using usenetserver.com for it's newsgroups (we're looking at another company as well currently). No speed caps or limits on the newgroups - all included...

What is the retention rate for nexicom? 30 days as well? Is it possible to get a longer retention rate by paying more?

Sorry for the late reply - yes 30 days as well, unfortunately only option to extend that is to take the full commercial service directly.

We are looking at another option currently but I have no details to share or timelines yet..

Email from PowerUsenet: They've gone up to 125 day retention from 99. NO extra charge.
