| You can change that in the Private LAN settings. It will be the modem IP address setting that you need to change. And after changing it you will have to use that new address to connect to the modem.
I'm not understanding why you would need to change it. The *.*.1.1 should work just fine as long as you are getting your default gateway address via DHCP. -- AT&T dsl; Westell 327w modem/router; SuSE 10.1; firefox 2.0.0.14 |

| If you have a verizon version of the 327w, that defaults to using VPI/VCI of 0/35. For use on BellSouth, you will need to change that to 8/35. Make that change in the WAN settings.
The chances are that will fix your problem. -- AT&T dsl; Westell 327w modem/router; SuSE 10.1; firefox 2.0.0.14 |

| Then the PPPoE is not working, or not properly setup. You need to enter your bellsouth account and password in the PPPoE settings for the connection (probably the same place you set the VPI/VCI. I am not sure whether the bellsouth account name is the full email address, or just the part before the "@" sign. |

| reply to goforit20 no thats not it, all that is set up ......the 327 is not connecting to 192.168.1.254...so when i plug in the 327.....it does not connect.......so you can't set anything up .....bellsouth told me that the gateway is "not" 1.254.........it is 1.1..on the 327 (we tryed to change it,with no luck)...and that is why |

| Sorry, but you are a bit confused about how this works.
The 327w does not connect to 192.168.1.254. Rather, the 327w uses that IP address as its own. In your case, with a verizon version of the 327w, that will instead be 192.168.1.1, and there is no need to change that. If you are able to get into the 327 setup page, then that part of the 327w is working correctly.
If the DSL light is on, the the modem is properly accessing the DSL channel.
What is left is the use of the correct VPI/VCI (normally 8/35 for bellsouth users), and then the successful PPPoE authentication using your bellsouth account and password.
Have you checked the diagnostic logs on the modem to see if they give you any useful information on what is going wrong? -- AT&T dsl; Westell 327w modem/router; SuSE 10.1; firefox 2.0.0.14 |

1. Do the factory default reset on the 327W using the recessed button.
2. Connect the 327W to your DSL connection and to a Windows PC.
3. Reboot the Windows PC, and when you get back to the desktop go to Start/Run and enter cmd.exe and press the enter key.
4. From the command prompt window you just opened type the command ipconfig /all and press the enter key. You should see something similar to this:
5. Enter http://[Default Gateway] into your browser's address field (where [Default Gateway] is the actual Default Gateway IP address displayed by your ipconfig /all results)
If you do not get a response from your 327W (or if the ipconfig /all results say "Media disconnected", or displays an IP address similar to 169.254.xxx.yyy), then it is likely dead.
