[connectivity] Verizon Westell 6100 problem

I've seen this problem listed a lot, but it just started this morning

for me. My modem cycles through periods of no connectivity... like

one minute connected, then two disconnected, then starts over

again. I have a Westell 6100, E90-610015-06. Software

Version: VER:4.04.03.00. And no router.
I have called tech support, and they say I may need a new modem,

but... surprise, the warranty has expired, which means I'll have

to buy one, and I have heard people with the same problem saying

they have downgraded their firmware and fixed the problem. I

wanted to know if anyone thinks my problem might be the same

one, and if it can be fixed?

This is the info I have from the westell ip address

Software Version: VER:4.04.03.00
Transceiver Revision: 7.2.3.0
Model Name: E90-610015-06
Serial Number: 06B404935256
Broadband Connection Status: UP
Broadband IP Address: PPP Down
Broadband MAC Address: 00:0f:db:d4:44:c4
Broadband Connection Type: PPP
Active Status: 00:00:00
Configuration: 096-900130-01 B

Re: [connectivity] Verizon Westell 6100 problem

Okay, I reset the firmware to 4.03.02.04 and it's been working fine for about an hour. The question now is... will it automatically upgrade again, and if it will how do I stop it? I read something on here about blocking a port to stop them from automatically accessing my modem, but how do I do that, and should I?
Please help me, I don't want to have to downgrade every day because of this.

I've seen the same thing. Verizon pushed a new firmware out, and caused that issue for me. I re-flashed to the old version, which worked for a day, but they started pushing the firmware over and over which has apparently fully killed the unit. Anyone got advice?

same problem here, everyday i put in the old firmware in but one day the power light became orange and i look in the guide in the cd about Westell 6100 and it said boot safe mode now cant do a thing.the power is always orange even after reset.
