| Verizon Channels are Here in Fort Wayne!
Channels are showing up as black screens right now, but they are there. When you go to them it actually gives a message that states you are not subscribed to them. I'm guessing they are just not sending a feed through them yet. Good news (at least for us in the midwest) as the Big Ten Network and Versus are there in HD, but ESPNews, MSNBC, MOJO are still not.

The bottom line is that the long awaited HD expansion has finally begun! Even though it sounds as it is a messy process, but they are using Fort Wayne as the test / shakedown roll-out.
To the 1st post, do not expect MSNBC-HD to be added. It was obviously a mistake in the original new line-up. MSNBC does not have a HD channel yet; they are planning to start up a HD channel early in the 4th quarter, presumably October.

| Can somone in Indiana clarify what the deal is with Versus/Golf? Do you have to subscribe to the sports tier that includes the Golf channel in order to recieve this combo HD channel? I do not subscribe to the sports tier but am very interested in getting the HD Versus content. Wondering if I can get VS/Golf HD without subscribing to the extra tier. | |

| I know everyone's focused on the new HD channels and all, but I have to ask - are there any new SD channels too? I know they originally had a handful listed, and most of those were pulled in the later listings. But since they added in HD channels that were also pulled off the updated listings (e.g. BTN and Vs.) I figured that maybe they put some of the SD channels back in. Beyond Reelz (which was on the updated list), were there any additional SD channels added? | |

also if someone gets a chance, I am curious what happens when you try to tune to any of the "MLB ExtraInnings, or CenterCourt, or NHL's Center"? Thanks

@verizon.net | Is it at all possible that if everything goes well in Indiana Verizon will move up the dates for adding channels in the other cities? Or is there regulation that prevents this from happening (e.g. 30 day advance notice)?

Is it at all possible that if everything goes well in Indiana Verizon will move up the dates for adding channels in the other cities? Or is there regulation that prevents this from happening (e.g. 30 day advance notice)? I think the 30 day advance notice requirement still applies. The advance notice does not apply to adding new channels at unused channel numbers, but for moving channels or for that matter, removing channels. This is really a legacy of all analog systems where there is/was no guide data. People might sit down to watch the Home Shopping Network on channel 65 and instead find another another there with no idea where the shopping channel ended up. People taping shows manually with VCRs before they go on vacation would want a lot of advance notice. With digital guides, really don't need 30 days notice, but the rules are still in place.
So, no I would not expect the posted dates on the Fios channel line-up web page to move up. As for why Fort Wayne, IN. It was close to the last VHO to be added; Fort Wayne is DMA #107 in population. Verizon likely has the fewest subscribers there so far among all the VHOs, so as noted, it is a logical guinea pig market. Notice the 3 weeks between Fort Wayne roll-out and NY. Then the channel revamp & HD channel expansion pace speeds up. Need a initial shakedown block to fix problems, make sure all the channels are coming in, make sure the new channel maps are working right, time to refine the procedures for adding a whole bunch of channels at once, AND time to get the CSRs ready with memos/classes to handle a flood of phone calls (well, to the extent that the CSRs will ever be "ready"). Verizon does not appear to be doing a very good job of notifying people, but even they were, there will still be a flood of phone calls from people who can't figure out that their favorite channels have been moved.

6/30 Fort Wayne IN 7/21 Portland OR 7/23 NY 7/30 Northern NJ 8/06 Pittsburgh
Maybe we will see line-ups & dates for several more VHOs posted at the end of the work week, which would be this Thursday? My guess is that Richmond & Norfolk, VA VHO will show up next.

Right on schedule, Verizon's FiOS TV gets with the HD program and over doubles its lineup in at least one market, as the lucky devils in Fort Wayne IN get access to 23 new HD channels today. Now usually Verizon likes to roll out national channels nation wide on the same day, but because it is in the middle of shuting off all the analog channels, the lineups are being realigned market by market. Ironically, the new channels seem to be rolling out in the opposite order of the intial Verizon FiOS TV rollout, in which the initial two markets to get the service, are the last to get the upgrade. But even those poor souls in Tampa FL and Keller TX can expect all the HD goodness within the next 60 to 120 days.

| I am in Fort Wayne. I don't subscribe to the Sports Pack and I do have the Versus/Golf HD on and it is on channel 590. Outdoor channel HD on 591, however, I can't view it as you must have the Sports Pack for that channel.
Interesting channels that are on the guide line-up in Fort Wayne that didn't make it to the actual system are:
TBS HD ESPN NEWS HD CNN HD MSNBC HD LIFETIME WEST HD (Who gives a rats arse?) Lifetime HD (Who gives a poo?) Mojo HD Starz Kids and Family HD Starz Comedy HD Starz Edge HD Showtime West HD Showtime 2 HD
So in Fort Wayne...we now have a total of 39 HD channels.
Bravo HD is a joke. It has been in 4:3 all day today. Smithsonian looks brilliant. USA HD has HD content such as the Law and Order shows and Monk so far. Big Ten HD looks grand, lots of HD tennis, track and field, baseball...can't wait for football and basketball season. Weather Channel is pretty sharp, not like you will watch it that much, what maybe 5 minutes? Science HD has very small cropping bars on sides of screen, ratio is bigger than 4:3 but smaller than 16:9 on some programs..same with TLC HD. Sci Fi HD had some HD content today, most is not. History looks good, mostly HD content. Animal Planet HD looks good. Golf/Versus HD currently is showing old Ryder Cup coverage and it is naturally in 4:3.
All in all, good day in Fort Wayne for Verizon Fios HD. Wonder where the other 12 channels are and if and when they will be added.
Hope all this helps some of you...

I think we need to wait a couple more days to see what gets added. TBS-HD, CNN-HD, Lifetime HD are still on the PDF channel lists, so they are good bets to get added soon. MSNBC-HD does not yet exist, so no surprise that it is not there. Mojo was dropped from the PDF lists, so there might have been a contract issue or Verizon is not ready to get the channel.
You may not give a poo about Lifetime HD, nor is this a channel I'm going to watch, but Lifetime is one of the most popular cable networks, usually in the top 5 or 10 cable nets. USA is usually the #1 cable net. If Verizon is going to add the HD version of cable channels, makes sense to give priority to the most watched cable networks. | Ch. 1009 says wrestling is in progress.
But, the guide is littered with "Coming Soon" messages. TBS HD was on the channel list sent to us, and on the pdf on the FIOS website. But, the guide says coming in December 2007. In fact a number of HD channels that should be there aren't. The guide shows that 805 is Showtime HD, 840 is Starz HD, and 885 is The Movie Channel HD. The other movie channels that should be there aren't there yet. The only news channels are CNBC on 602 and TWC on 519. Thankfully, there is SciFi HD on 680, as Stargate: Atlantis starts it's new season July 11. There are other HD channels, mostly those that FIOS already had. Clicking on a channel that isn't there just brings up an error message.
It seems neither the channel listing I have by the living room TV or the one on the FIOS TV site are all that correct. I'll check for more discrepencies and inaccuracies and post more later.
But, it is nice that when you click on a channel, it tells you what channel is there and where to find the channel that used to be there. But, many channels that we all thought would be there just aren't. Not yet, anyway. And, I won't waste my time trying to find a news item that tells why. Mark F.

It's really a subscription channel like the International channels such as RAI and TV5. It costs $14.95 a month but I've never seen Setanta offer channel content via per event pricing to domestic (as opposed to commercial) subscribers. Of course, many years ago they got their start by offering PPV games on BUD to bars and restaurants and I believe they still do that in North America and Europe today.

The area actually says "Pay Per View / Subscription Sports" and Setanta falls into the latter category. And it is a 24/7 service, so it should be available at all times for their subscribers. On Globecast, who specialize in international programming (and where FIOS new international stations are originating from), they list Setanta under Ireland. However, since it is a all-sports English language station, I think it is better that they grouped it with plans such as ESPN Full Court and probably other subscription sports plans as FIOS adds to their lineup in the future.

I just got FIOS TV last month and just learned all the channels. Now I have to relearn them all again. Oh yeah, it also messed up my DVR since some of my shows were set to selected channel. What a drag. I redid my entire DVR list.
