What use is that? Rogers will still lock you into a 3 year iphone contract for the sim card.
You can cancel the contract, keep the iPhone, pay the ECF and the other BS and use your existing SIM with your existing plan. This may not be very advantageous for Robers users, but for Fido users that still have an old grandfathered plan pre 2004, it's a VERY viable solution, especially with the 30$/300MB addon.

Agreed. But it just comes out to the unsubsidized price of the iPhone itself. Remember the first version of the iPhone ? It would sell for 400$ unsubsidized.
