1 edit | [DSLR] Sea Dogs -- Walk my Plank ( HTML game)
Walk my Plank is an online pirate game that has a steep learning curve but is EXTREMELY addicting once you get into it. It's round based, with each round lasting about 2 months. At the start of each round EVERY player is reset to zero and play begins... keeps it fresh and competitive. Free to play, but upgrades can be purchased for a small fee.... top prize last round was a laptop.
Fleets can be formed within the game, and additional prizes are awarded based on fleet performance. From a post in cool broadband links (where i joined up from) we have formed a DSLR fleet... the SEA DOGS! so check it out and join up with us if you want to have some fun.
This round ends at the end of july, so you can join now and get a feel of things before the next round starts. I joined a little under 2 weeks ago and have advanced nicely. There are a ton of VERY helpful people on the site that lend advice or items to new pirates.
If you want to check it out, here is a referral link from myself. Just go to the website if you don't want to go through my link (it gives me a bit of game currency for referrals ).
»walkmyplank.net/signup.php *referral id removed.
Made this thread for a central place to discuss the game and/or the fleet. I'll post up some tips and info later that i have gotten from my experience, and others can do the same if you wish.
See ya on the water!! AarghhhhH! |

2 edits | FYI - We got burned bad in our first war (The other fleet's lowest member was level 150 or something) so we're out of booty points. Booty is required to accept applications, so we're stuck for now. As soon as we get some more booty, we'll be able to accept more apps.
We just need 150,000 'bloons and 100 gold. Right now, I've got ~ 36,000 bloons and 86 gold. This may take a few days.

| oops, didn't see this till just now... i have a ton of doubs and just burned through several hundred bars of gold training, or else i would have contributed. looks like we got enough tho, because i see booty points.
yeah, most of the other fleets have been around for a while and are all more experienced than us, so we probably wont be winning any wars unless we can hit up a newly formed fleet or something.... everything should reset in a few weeks tho.. |

| reply to jrock444 We got a very generous donation from a new member and were able to get all apps processed. We're getting nailed by another fleet again, though, so I'm going to start saving up 'bloons so we can restore booty once this war is over.
Once the game resets later this month, we'll be in much better standing. -- Blogsaus "The same crowd that cheers at your triumphant entry will be the ones that crucify you in the end. Consider this: the very thing that is worth dying for will be the very thing they hate you for - Andrew Schwab |

| Thanks! As of this minute, we're at 90,843 bloons and 4 gould. We should be able to everything restored by the end of the day, if not first thing tomorrow when vote for gold rolls over. |

| reply to jrock444 Sorry, there's two different threads going on, and it's hard to keep track of which one I"m in.
************** We had a majority agreement to delete the fleet and recreate as non-competing. I'm doub-diving now to get the 100k necessary to recreate.
I have the original roster, plus a list of everyone else who's applied, so once it's done, we'll be back to full sail! -- Blogsaus "The same crowd that cheers at your triumphant entry will be the ones that crucify you in the end. idlewillkill Go Blue Premium join:2005-09-28 North York, ON | Just curious what other folks total stats numbers are at in relation to level, and how you fare against other boats around your level? I'm at level 7, and a bit over 2 million stat points. I can take out Walter. |

As far as the items, yes it is confusing and not explained well in game. Apparently the items are part of individual quests within the game which result in cash/armour/tools. Some items have to be merged (which is an option in the inventory screen) to create something or accomplish a task. i.e. merge torn pieces of a map that you find to discover where a secret ship is that you can use, combine 5 gingers to receive unlimited medical repair (made that up for an example.)
I'm not sure how you know what particular quest each item you find pertains to... if it tells you somehow, or if you have to just 'know' from experimenting with merging items or from information from other players. Will try to find an answer because i have lots of random items and have no idea what to do with them.
They should provide more info in the game about the quests. |

| reply to jrock444 Can someone give me an idea of the best/fastest way to go up levels? I've not been playing long and I explore the seas, train my crew etc. but seems to be taking awhile to gain experience. -- Black is the absence of light, but white is the absence of memory, the color of can't remember. |

Well, you only get experience from attacking people (and spanish fleets u run into while exploring), so you just have to keep doing that. Not much help i know, but that's about all i know to tell you. Training will help you beat people at higher levels that aren't trained as much. I average 10% experience gain from each successful battle, and with a full vitality bar you can get two battles in.. so it's roughly 20% gained for a full vitality bar. You can use gold to replenish your vitality bar which cuts down on the time.
I would suggest finding someone who is a higher level than you that you can beat, and battle them as many times as you can without breaking the rules (something like 12 attacks in a 24 hour period), which results in a slightly higher experience gained than if you battled someone your level or lower. Also, if you attack someone at a higher level and barely defeat them, choose 'set adrift' instead of 'plunder'. You only give up a small amount of experience if you set them adrift, but if you try to plunder and fail you get zero.
I'll see if i have anything in inventory that might help you... a lot of pirates will give stuff to new pirates to help them get up and running in the game.
and like protus said, always have a crew education class running |
