| I know someone who got 3 letters in a month all with the name of the movie in them.
Obviously Pirate Bay is being heavily tracked by MPAA workers and should be avoided.
Anyways I have never had a problem finding anything to resort to using Pirate Bay.

An attitude that is accurate since they do not HOST the files but just list what P2P Client Addresses to contact to get the file contents. They are no different from Google in that they list locations of the files not the files themselves. Those the claim that PB "Hosts" the files are confusing serving a file with listing a URL to access the file from its real location - PB does the latter not the former. |

I hate to say this but I have picked up more viruses on mininova than I have on TPB. It's almost a 2:1 ratio.
TPB (least to me) does a better job filtering the garbage. |

No torrent site hosts anything to be able to do what you think they do.
I have never heard of anyone getting letters about downloading except from pirate bay trackers, so your 2:1 ratio bullshit is garbage. Also I have never downloaded a virus from any tracker site let alone mininova.

Well as far as the 2:1 ratio, it seems when I just do a simple test of a show I miss I like to watch I get more hits on the A/V and malware from Miniova than TPB. For instance, I missed a mythbusters episode I wanted to see. All 4 sources from mininova.org were nothing but hosted torrent viruses. TPB had as least 2 that were not viruses or "torrented viruses" (if that's appropriate).
Of course then again I still have a VCR and videotape, I guess I could have recorded the show for next time.
AFAIK, the 2:1 stands in my eyes based on a simple torrent tracker test of just a simple TV show. Another one was I wanted to watch was the knight rider 2008 episode. Again, another night I just missed the show I went to mininova because TPB didn't have it as of yet. Out of the 8 trackers I looked up 8 were nothing but hosted torrent viruses. I waited about a week later and TPB on it's first search and successful download I was able to watch the show with the first one.
So in my eyes (or as least here) mininova seems to be just about a complete miss to me. It's ratio with me is 2:1 based on attempts tried. I got more success on TPB than I have with mininova.

Getting an email from mpaa or your isp is extrmely a rare case and you're just targeted out of the random ones they choose. It could happen on any site

The reason is that some torrent on mininova.com are infected with virus a spyware downloader or trojan virus. There are many who have been banned from uploading porn or other forbidden stuff not allowed by the sites rule. So to get revenge it makes sense for them to upload infected torrent to infect as many people as possible.
These people are getting back at us in other ways as well...
We think they are mpaa slowing down our download when in truth its them leeching some of the torrent
on thepiratebay.org rarely anyone gets banned... you have to really piss off alot of folks... to lose your upload privilege.
on mininova.com getting banned is as easily as mislabeling a torrent, upload to wrong category, or an unworking torrent. many people love mininova and many hate it as well due to strict policy they enforce on users...

Yep, me. Just because I downloaded a torrent file from some site doesn't mean I actually received the complete file(s), but I haven't gotten a letter from my ISP or anyone else for that matter. |
