Klein put his neck on the line

He stepped out for all American citizens. He is a hero whistleblower who deserves our support, not our derision.

Now that's funny. Maybe we could give him a statue near the Lincoln Memorial!

100% correct. He's far more of a hero than the hundred of Senators, and hundreds of House Reps, and especially more than the entire executive branch.

That's right, because the terrorists had NO CLUE that the government was monitoring their communications prior to Klein blowing the whistle on ATT. Riiiiight.

Sorry, but that doesn't fly. Klein's revelation told nothing to the terrorists that they didn't already know. Even before Klein came forward, terrorist groups were aware of government eavesdropping and were actively seeking out people with encryption experience.

No, he stood up to the traitors who are helping turn your country into a police state. Many republics before yours have turned into dictatorships, and it's because of "citizens" like you.

What happens when someone on DSLReports says something the government doesnt like, and they declare that anyone who is a member of the site is a "terrorist" (you know, just to be safe). Enjoy your police state.

I'll believe we have a police state when you are shut up. As long as you can spout it doesn't exist.

That's the kind of attitude that allows dictatorships to happen. Once you HAVE a police state, it'll cost many lives to have it removed. On the plus side, lots of Republicans have guns, so those will come in handy.

You know what, I HOPE Bush declares himself Dictator for life and starts rounding people up. JUST to see the look on your face would make it worth all the deaths.

And who is this helping?

"Specifically, the new legislation dramatically expands the government's ability to wiretap without meaningful judicial oversight, by redefining "oversight" so that the feds can drag their feet on getting authorization almost indefinitely. It also gives the feds unprecedented new latitude in selecting eavesdropping targets, latitude that could be used to collect information on non-terrorist-related activities like P2P copyright infringement and online gambling. In short, the FISA Amendments Act of 2008 opens up loopholes so large that the feds could drive a truck loaded down with purloined civil liberties through it. So the telecom immunity stuff is just the smoke; let's take a look at the fire..."
