Netopia 3347-02 good one !
The lower grade Netopia models seem to work great as well.

I can't say that I've tried a lot of different modem/routers but I have been using the Netopia 3346 v.7.1 router/modem for years now and never had a problem with it (knock wood).

Our lines are above ground which means when we have an electrical storm, I usually shut everything down as we had a pole hit in front of our house one time that knocked out 4 modems, one hard drive, one mother board along with our home air conditioning unit. That was back in the dark ages of dial up but I learned my lesson from that and always shut down during electrical storms. Having said that though, we are usually well into lightning phases before shutting down computers, dsl, wired router and wireless router and lightning in the area has never affected the Netopia router at all.

Now I have the Netopia linked to an airport wireless router and it works well with the new wireless router too.

I've been convinced that I need to swap out my Westell 6100 for another modem. The Westell is just too sensitive to lightening and constantly loses sync when lightening is in vicinity (re: other thread on lightening subject)

Should I try to get the 2wire or Netopia ? Or is there a better choice ?

Thanks.
