| Is my DSL profile wrong? DMT says 3M but I paid for 5M
I've not ever used DMT to analyse my DSL line, but after reading a few of the posts here I get the impression that my Downstream should be the same speed as the "profile" I signed up with, and if it's not I should talk to a TSI tech?
Is that right? |

| Yes, call TSI support to see what they can do.
Sometimes Bell initializes the circuit only @ 3Mbps and then it must be reconfigured up to the 5Mbps level.
But be aware that depending on how far you are from the Bell central office and the condition of the copper wires and chokes on the line between your house and the CO, you may not be able to achieve 5Mbps in any event.
You and your next door neighbour could each get different results even if you've both signed up for the same speed service, depending on line factors - even if you both are using identical modems. |

Bell takes a few days to sync your line to 5 megs. |

Just because he's on 3meg now, doesn't mean he will magically jump up-to 5meg without the help of him asking first. |

| reply to tybeet Thanks guys, I sent a friendly email to TSI support asking if they could do anything.

I'm not sure, this is the first time I've used DMT, though I ran the automatic monitoring and SNR-Monitor for at least 24 hours before posting this. |

| reply to tybeet With your numbers I see no reason you will have any problems with a 5 meg profile.
As far as why you don't get upstream numbers with DMT is most likely because of the modem you are using. I think DMT doesn't give upstream numbers for all modems. |
