Remote starter and alarm.

I have a 94 Honda Accord and the keys are getting stuck in the locks from time to time. I figured a remote starter might be a good way to avoid any more hassles. I might as well throw an alarm on it as well, right? Someone actually tried hot-wiring the car a week ago but luckily they failed. I still had to replace my steering column stuff and ignition. Oh well.

So, any recommendations the type of an alarm and remote starter for a 94 Accord? I wasn't planning on doing this myself. I called one installer and the basic system is $229 for the starter and goes up to $299 with the alarm. He gave me a choice of upgrading to a "two way" something.... that tells you if/when the car is being tampered with...? I think that's what he said. I forgot what the upgrade cost was. Should I go for the upgrade of the "two way" I think it was 'LCD' or something?

$300 give or take is the ballpark for me to spend for this old car. If it was $500 or so, I'd probably opt out. Any thoughts on this? thanks. Should i do the upgrade? Should I get another "must have"? I'm very new to all this.

The two way is pretty nice, I had one on my '89 325i and it beeps at you if the alarm is going off or the car started sucessfully etc. Had some pretty fancy features I never wired up, like trunk lid release and window motor control.

Thanks. Yeah, decided to go with that. I just set the install date. I got the 2-way for an extra $40. not bad. I didn't realize it was that low of an increase. $339 for everything done at my house. Not too bad.

Thanks again.

Are the key getting stuck in the door lock or ignition?
Try squirting some liquid graphite in the door locks.

You know... I didn't even think of that. I should have! Thanks. I did spray some stuff in there and it works better. I also got the alarm/starter installed. It looks like a good product. I have nothing to compare it to. Seems OK to me. It's an Autopage 900LCD. I like the two way operation where it tells you the status of your car and if the alarm is sounding or doors open, car running or not, etc... That's a nice option.

Still getting used to the buttons. My wife has already accidentally put it in valet mode for the whole day and we don't know how the heck she got it that way. I did read the instructions, but i can't imagine she went through those steps to get it in the valet mode. But... I wouldn't be surprised. lol

thanks again!
