| MJ and Alltel EVDO
Has anyone anywhere been able to get MJ to work with Alltel EVDO usb wireless device. I spent HOURS with MJ "chat". Alltel insists problem is not theirs. I believe them. The reg server screen pops up whenever I use it. It works just fine with same laptop, different connection (cable) and on other machines. I am desperate to get it to work and can't get anywhere with MJ support. PLEASE HELP |

| reply to crosshillyan I doubt you'll get it to work. I've tried getting VoIP (Asterisk, Vonage, Viatalk) to work via EVDO for awhile now on both Sprint and Alltel and no luck. There's been plenty of bandwidth, but I think there's just too much latency for it to work. Keep in mind SIP fails over satellite connections as well (also high latency). |

| reply to crosshillyan I purchased a magicjack with a free 30 day trial. It was not free had to pay shipping both ways. I have an Alltel UTStarcom UM150 EVDO modem and a Cradlepoint MBR100 EVDO router. Thought this was going to save me a lot of money. I spent 20 hours online chat with Magicjack techs. They just wanted me to open ports, switch usb ports, download the upgrade (about 30 times), make changes in my IE Explorer trusted sites, and turn off all my firewalls over and over and over again. I hired a profesional network specialist to come to my home to verify I had not done anything wrong. I did, on my own get a phone number and register, but I had to delete a file called WROFFLINE.html to get that far. Afterwards that trick didn't help. Registration server is down! |
