| Help Please
I am not sure if I am posting this in the right forum or not but my laptop has Windows Vista on it and I had a problem with a file missing at startup a while back, I reinstalled my Windows Vista from the original CD, it worked well for a while and then it started acting up again. Now it doesn't work at all. It says a file is missing on startup and when I put in my CD to fix the errors it doesn't work.
What I would like to do is completely wipe out Windows and put a fresh copy of my vista on there. Pretty much start from scratch. Problem is I have no clue how to do this.
Can someone please point me in the right direction. It would be greatly appreciated. -- It's the little things in life that matter the most |

| I am looking to completely delete all partitions on the hard drive, I tried to repair my pc by using my vista CD and it is telling me that it cannot be repaired that the registry is corrupted. Is there any way to get to the partitions any other way so that I can delete them and start over??? -- It's the little things in life that matter the most |

| reply to Kimberly If your hard drive is defective, which sounds like a possibility, wiping and reinstalling won't change anything.
What file was missing, if you recall?
You can go to your computer manufacturer's website, find out what make and model of hard drive shipped with that machine, then go to the hard drive manufacturer's website. They often have downloadable tools you can burn to CD that will wipe, partition, or otherwise manage the drive.
If you cannot currently boot from your Vista installation disc, however (which appears to be what you're saying), you really need to determine why not as your first step. |

Try a system restore via the method in the last post in this thread:

| reply to Kimberly While your Visa installation may not be repairable, booting again to the Vista CD would allow you to do a clean install. This would include removing any and all existing partitions.
Google: "Vista clean install". The following site would be a typical find:

(Ignore the backup advice, as it is too late for any of this to help in your case.) |
