have a surfboard 5100 and i get a SNR of around 30.5 to 31.5 on average,a downstream power level of around -8.5,and a upstream power level of around 55,and i never had a problem in years.my question is how low of a signal can a modem work on? i know people with SNR of 27 and there modem still has no problems. |

1 edit | Even though there are established standards quoted by CC, there are no definite figures to be given here because some makes/models of modems are much more tolerant of marginal or out of spec signal figures than are others.
I have found that the 5100 is one of the most forgiving modems out there.
At one time, while behind my 5100, my Downstream Power Level was +22dB. Way out of spec by Comcast's published standards, yet it never had a hiccup in the 2 years I had this condition. |

To be honest i would call for a truck roll!
You have to much noise on your line and sooner or later it will cause problems!But if your happy,so be it!  |

At one point, Cox HSI was sending +23 dBmv downstream power to my Motorola SB5120, and everything worked fine. |
