Whitefence is a fraud

Beware of Whitefence.com and their deceptive marketing technique. I placed an order for AT&T DSL thinking that it was AT&T site. My supidity I know. But as soon as I found out that they don't offer the same package as AT&T I tried to cancel. But the customer service at Whitefence can't cancel because it's already been sent to AT&T. So I called AT&T and they don't have the order. And told me that I should wait 2 days until it comes through their system.

Going through Whitefence is a mistake. They are a third party provider and it really makes customer service a nightmare.

I would warn everyone about Whitefence.com and not to use their service. Unless you enjoy getting the "run around".

So how does that service work? They just put in orders on your behalf? Or do you pay them every month and they turn around and pay the service providers?

Nothing in your post points to fraud unless Whitefence said they ARE AT&T and since the names are totally different I am going to doubt they said that.

They are nothing more than a reseller - just like resellers for cell phones, sat tv, ISP's etc...

whitefence is a fraud. my apartment complex sent me through their "camdenconnect" site which then lets you set up phone, internet, electricity, etc., through whitefence.com. I set up my utilities, which was not a problem. I also set up phone and internet. The whitefence.com website quoted me phone for $9.85/month through AT&T. When I got my bill it was actually $16.50/month. I called AT&T and they told me that I must have been reading "old papers". When I said that I had ordered service through whitefence.com, the customer service agent had no idea what I was talking about, but she assured me that phone service was $16.50/month and that I was misquoted. She never offered to connect me to a manager or any other form of compensation. I will have to cancel my AT&T internet, which I'm really not looking forward to dealing with. I have not had the chance to talk to anyone at whitefence.com, but I'm going to have a long chat with my apartment complex manager as soon as I can.

bottom line, I should have never trusted whitefence.com. They flat out lied. I even went to the website again to see if they are offering the same supposed deal, and it is sure enough still advertised at 9.85/month.

According to this link, they are a legitimate business, if a problem you might want to help others by sending to the BBB.

I am having the same issues. I signed up through their service for internet service through Time Warner. The price that I signed up for was $14.95 but I have been getting billed at $25.95. I contacted Time Warner and they show no record of me signing up for anything other than $25.95. I believe it is not Time Warner's fault. I have contacted Whitefence numberous times for about a month and have (at their direction) faxed in copies of my confirmation and my cable bills. I have called them and was put on hold indefinitly. This is a real pain.

How the heck could you think it was the AT&T site? The place is displaying logo's for every telecom and utility out there on the site. Did you think AT&T advertise's for their competition?

Why would you sign up for service with one company through another company ?

No one answered my question, but if this site allows you to pay your monthly utilities with credit cards it could be worth it. Granted I don't know if it allows that. If it is just a website that sets you up with each individual company, it's damn pointless. Use google and go straight to who is going to be sending you a bill.
