My latest Bell bill contained a notice that my 5-meg, unlimited (grandfathered) service would be going up to $47.95, so I went on their website's chat feature and told them I was cancelling. They immediately offered to roll back the increase. I said not good enough, and referred to Acanac's prices. They offered to drop to $40. That's still twice Acanac, I complained, and they came back at $35. "Still more than TekSavvy", I said. "OK, you can have it for $30".
Sorry, Rocky et. al. On a new signup, I'd be with you, but until Bell (inevitably) screws up again (or until you win at the CRTC, and Bell stops throttling you) the inconvience of changing means that I'll be with bell for a little longer.
One other thing of note. They offered to switch me to "Essentials," their 2 MB service, to save money, at the low price of $34.95 per month -- even though it's advertised at $32.95 on Bell's web site! |

1 edit | reply to StillSuckered StillSuckered, Haha good luck with that.
As DJMassacre said, with $10 more, you could have unlimited no caps. There's also a way of evading the throttling through TSI. Not to mention No contracts, true customer service with no lies and deceit, and great overage charges of $0.25 a gig if you are on the 29.95 200GB plan.
This is a no brainer.. but I guess I don't need to say more. |

| reply to ShadPTR It's been said time and time again that a lot of companies will count on customer apathy to maintain crappy service and more expensive prices.
This was a live example.
But, wouldn't it be hilarious if Bell loses it's case against the CAIP for throttling and pay per usage.
They will have managed to skewer yet another (series of) customer(s) without even trying. -- Cheers! |

Now take a bundle discount, $34.95 and then take out the unadvertised modem rental of $2.00 and you're at the advertised price of $32.95. |

| reply to StillSuckered OMG.. I went through exactly the same thing about a year ago... Bell totally screwed up the billing and I don't think I ever got the 29.99 they promised to price match TS.
I spent hours on the phone trying to get it sorted out. Finally gave up, canceled and TS was the phone call I made. Been a happy camper since! |

| reply to StillSuckered In my chat session (which I recorded, natch) I explicitly confirmed:
1) that the rate quoted was for my current 5MB unlimited service; 2) that I remained month-to-month without a contract; and 3) that the credits would appear on my September bill
I also got a confirmation number.
We shall see if Bell screws this one up... |

I hope you didn't end up accepting a deal because they will remove your unlimited plan. Doesn't matter what they promised. |
