thank you...you are an angel!!!
This has been driving me crazy. I had antivirus 08 crap popping up all over the place. Installed into my toolbar. Nightmare! I had to pay 49.95 because it said I had 40 trojan horses, spyware, adware corrupting my computer. The balloons kept popping up. I uninstalled antivirus o8, but it was still on toolbar. Avg was working fine. spyzooka took care of it. However today, my avg was all screwed up. I uninstalled, ran spyzooka scan, then tried to reinstall. no luck But when i tried uninstalling avg free then reinstall "a. bin is missing" kept coming up.

you saved my ass....i am keeping my fingers crossed.

BEWARE ANTIVIRUS 08.

Found this solution on the yahoo answers forum from member intc_escapee and it worked for me:

1) go to »www.grisoft.com/ww.download-update
2) make a directory on your desktop called AVG
3) download AVI: 270.6.4
4) download IAVI: / 1616
5) move the dowloaded files to the directory you made called AVG
6) launch AVG
7) select tools -> update from directory
8) select the directory called AVG where you put the downloads

That's it. Should be fixed.
OMG!!! THAnK YOU!!! I almost re installed windows thinking I had corupted it. I'm glad I checked this forum first! This fix works, don't re-install.
