Do you realize Gregg that we gained no extra hockey in HD with this "100 channel expansion", sad..........
I know, that's what really stinks. I guess when VZ talked about the expansion with a 'special emphasis' on sports programming, they weren't talking about hockey, or any other major sport for that matter. I'm still waiting for the NHL network.

They might have gotten in trouble from Comcast. I think I once read that in order to show this HD channel, both SD's had to be in the regular package. Verizon probably didn't want to move Golf Channel out of the sports package.

I guess if you already have the Movies package, an option would be to upgrade to the Movies+Sports package for an additional $3.00 a month. At least until they, hopefully, have separate channels and no longer charge for just the Versus HD channel.

I think they'd rather irritate a relatively small group of hockey fans instead of give all those golf fans a free HD Golf channel...

It is a shame that they can't seem to be able to black out the Golf programming to those who don't have the Sports Package ....

I called Verizon back about the issue of Versus/Golf HD being part of the FiOS TV Premier Package and I was told that it was always part of the extra Sports Package, even though I know it was not. So if you do not have the Sports Package, prepare to lose the Versus/Golf HD channel, unless you want to pay $7.99 a month for a bunch of useless channels!

The official Channel Line-up pdf doesn't have a separate section for "HD Sports Package" so it lumps both Outdoor HD and Versus/Golf HD into the general "HD Sport" category (which contains all the free HD ones). If a new customer looked at that (and that's where the main Verizon page sends them to look at specific package channel line-ups), they'd sure think that they'd get those two channels without needing to add on the Sports Package.

I'm sure after the two channels split it will be easier for them to offer Versus HD to everyone and Golf HD to Sports Pack subscribers. Until then we can't have it both ways.

I wonder what'll happen after they split the single channel containing both Golf and Hockey into two this coming December. With Versus SD not being in the Sports Package (for now?), what are the chances they'll come to their senses, not stick Versus HD into the Sports Package, and only keep the Golf HD channel there?

And is there any more news on NHL Center Ice becoming available in FiOS? Some of their games should be on HD.

This isn't right, now I only get 99 HD's

I could also care less about the other sports package channels.

Still getting Versus/Golf HD here in Northern NJ, but I think it's just a matter of time before it's pulled. I just went to the website and pulled up the price for a new customer. I went into the 'add channels' option and under the sports package, for 7.99, is listed Versus/Golf HD.
That really stinks. I have no desire whatsoever to watch
any of the other channels listed.

How can you take away a channel you were getting and now make it part of another pay package. Is anyone outside of NY have this problem?
Just playing Devil's advocate here - but this happens with every provider.
Yup. Comcast removed three channels almost a year ago and was sure to raise their prices the following January (just like they did every year for the previous five year or more) so I bailed as soon as FiOS TV came our way...

I suspect that once the husband has his SD STB swapped out for the HD STB for his PVR he's going to want to add the Sports package Which of course is all part of Verizon's evil evil plan

Just playing Devil's advocate here - but this happens with every provider. Most likely Comcast is charging a higher fee to now carry the HD channel - so Verizon is trying to keep costs down.

I called Verizon this morning and the tech guy could not understand why I was no longer receiving VS/Golf HD. He information told him I should be receiving it with the local package. He put me on hold and told me he was looking into the matter and would call me back. Verizon left a message on my phone stating that VS/Golf HD is now part of the Sports Package and I would have to pay $7.99 to get the channel in the future. This is such a joke! Only been a customer less than one week and this puts a bad taste in my mouth! How can you take away a channel you were getting and now make it part of another pay package. Is anyone outside of NY have this problem?

They are not separating them, it would be too much trouble. It will be like this until the 2 stations split apart in December. I guess the other areas will see the same thing soon.
You mean they're not blacking out just Golf HD (kind of like how they handle blacking out certain games in certain areas) until they're separated? I wonder how I got that idea into my silly little head... Probably because it's a halfway sensible one, ha!

i have the same problem with the Outdoor channle HD here...but versus HD worked last time I looked.

Now verizon has to clean up the guide so it is friendly because all the "this channel moved to this channel" is really making it hard to view channel listings.
But the Outdoor channel does require the sports package so that's how it should be.

Also, my guide is all cleaned up here (thank goodness).

Has anyone opened a Direct Ticket on this? I wonder if longisland27 spoke to a customer service rep who was not informed correctly.
