Who will service?

Karl or anyone
Usually this is handled by an independent company and/or contractors. But I haven't seen any evidence of that. Does anyone know who (or which company) will actually come to people's homes?

I'm wondering the same thing. While I won't claim to know every contractor in town, NO one has been contacted about this. Maybe they are counting on retraining line techs to install TVs?

Retrain? I am sure they are hoping their techs can jump into this without training.

It will be 3rd party contractors. And it will be different contractors in different parts of the country. And AT&T has not listed who these are.

Their TOS for AT&T Connectech states they can use contractors all they want.

Third Parties. AT&T reserves the right to deliver all services via independent and authorized third party service representatives and technicians.
They will use the cheapest they can contract for and change contractors as they deem fit. You probably won't see who they are using as that will be AT&T proprietary info.

Only after the service is available for awhile will the companies they contracted with become known as users post that info in forums like BBR or disgruntled AT&T employees leak that info to the public.

Maybe they'll hire some good old ex-comcast installers. At least if they did we would probably have some good exploding TV news

I suspect that it will be whoever is cheapest, and meets AT&T's requirements.
Possibly Firedog, GeekSquad, or any other indie installer that's looking for a buck

If they hired ex-comcast guys, they would set up your stereo then take a nap on your couch.

Probably through onforce.com

Nah, they don't even pay as much as comcast does.
At least here in Atlanta they don't for Uverse installers who do the same things as the cable guys do.

I assume they would use the aforementioned Premise techs for something like this.
Another low paid, mostly less than knowledgeable about all subjects (just good at one thing or another at best) they are dispatched on and likely to disappoint.

When they were Bell South and I had a problem, it got fixed the first time. When AT&T took over it took 2 months and 6 visits by techs to my house for them to figure out the problem was on their end not mine. Now they want to do PC repair and home theaters? * Taps foot, scratches head*, I think I'll pass on that one.

From the Terms of Service section on the ConnecTech website - "Third Parties. AT&T reserves the right to deliver all services via independent and authorized third party service representatives and technicians."

The service is done by independent techs via onforce.com - The buyer behind the scenes is a group of people in texas who used to be part of compusa, they were the field service team. They dispatched installs on onforce for CUSA and they also do all the HP field warranty work. CUSA went under but they were still doing all of the existing CUSA warranty work and all of the HP warranty work so ATT bought out that division when CUSA was closing up and they are now trying to expand it. This is part of that effort.
