Are there any Houston Wireless ISPs?

Looking for a little help. I am trying to find a wireless ISP in the Houston area, specifically Reliant Stadium area.

I have a week long event there and need internet service that has a more stable connection than EVDO offers. The stadium offers a T1 line, for $5100...

I used the DSLR ISP tool and didn't find anything. If you guys can name any one in the area that would be a big help.

cheers.

You're not likely to find anything that works like a traditional 802.11x connection. There are a few wireless ISPs in Houston, but going with them would require a costly installation and a point-to-point link.

For what it's worth, EVDO is rock solid over here. Sprint's EVDO coverage should be fine near Reliant Stadium / the Astrodome.

Yes we usually use a point to point system, the 2.4MHz or 5.8MHz variety.

Glad to hear the EVDO is good, as we have Sprint cards and a Cradlepoint EVDO router. We are looking to stream video at 300k (upload), which I am worried about for 3 days straight, but it might come to that.

Thanks.

I am going to ask a MOD to move this to the WISP providers forum. No idea if you can get something cheaper, but it is worth a try.

At&t HSDPA is fast also and has good coverage over there.

We have had good luck with WISP service before. Use SkyRiver down in San Diego, NextWeb up the coast and point to point out at Gillette stadium. None of which ever cost more that about $1500 for the week.

airband.com says they can get us service.

Looks unlikely now with Ike.
