Got screwed with 2wire modem. What now?

My bad, I got a 2wire modem that will only work with Bell.

Trying to sell it to hopefully some Bell customer......
But I doubt that will happen.

So now I'm wondering what I can do with it?
At this point I don't really care if it gets fried or not but since I'm stuck with it, I might as well try something.

Either I find a user besides a door stop or a poke around the insides.

Any ideas where to start?

You can still use the four port ethernet switch and the wireless.

That would still work??

Even so though I have a Linksys WRT4GL with Tomato MLPP, so switch and wireless are covered.

The wireless and the four port ethernet switch will still be useful.
The 2wire lan dhcp server needs to be disabled and connect a lan port to the other router/switch.

Cool at least I know it will work that way then but it's still no use to me since I don't have any need for the extra ports or the wireless signal (My place is pretty small and my Wii is the only wireless device I have).

Can you post a image of the "Bell 2wire Setup Wizard webpage".
I sure would like to see it.

The page I get when trying to browse to a website?

Not a problem but I'm at work now and won't get a chance until Monday.

Any other pages?

Majoram I'm 100% shure you don't need to register on the webpage( I had it), there is a workaround and I don't remember.

Could you check the dsn automaticaly set on the computer and the router? If you see "2wire" somewhere, replace it.

I think it was that, but It's been 4-5 month since I did it.

The biggest problem with the bell firmwire is that "bridge mode" is locked out.

I Found on the net ( don't remember where ) that 2wire 2700, 2701 ( I had 2701HG-G) could be but on debug mode by dooing a short on pins 1-2-14 of the 14 pin jtag connector inside the modem...

It was working, the ip was 10.10.(dont remember the end) and dhcp was disabled as stated in the forum where I found that.

In the debug mode, there is suposely a way to remove all bell crap, but I had only 4 days before sending back the modem to sympatico and I didn't got able to found out how.

At job I have like 10 sympatico 2wire for sale, I'll put one on debug during next to see if there is really no way to but out bell out of them, But last time, I was, AGAIN, blocked at the MDC page...

It's a 2701HG-G. I checked but couldn't find any other firmware. Do you have any sites in mind?

Sorry for the late reply. I can't remember what the link is to access the MDC? All you get though is a box asking for a password.

Here are the other pages you asked about.

The dsn? DNS? I've checked the DNS and manually configured them. No luck. Any chance you can find that workaround again??

Yeah I heard about the debug mode too and I looked into it. All there is just info on how to get debug mode. No one knows what to do after that.

Have you tried resetting it and using some of the keys from 2 wire to activate it?

Lol sorry - just tired.
Technically everything works except web surfing.

Every site just gets redirected to that Bell Registration page and I already tried manually entering the DNS etc.

Though I notice when I try hard coding the gateway, the Gateway IP disappears when I try to save.

No how do you reset it? Just a plain reset with the reset button?

I would assume holding in the reset button for 5 to 10 seconds would do it.I don't have one to test with thou.
