I can live without tv, I can live without the Internet but having no phone service is simply unacceptable. Whoa, Nellie.
No service provider in the world promises 100% uptime. Even ludicrously overpriced business-class connections promise 99.9999999% uptime, which means you can still expect to be down at least a few hours each year.
So when you say this the "2nd complete failure" of your service, it sounds like you're not willing to accept the fact that any service you get is likely to be down for some length of time (apart from POTS).
I'm not sure that two outages would have me reaching for the panic button quite yet. Just how long have you had the service for? And how long did the first outage last for (assuming your current outage is still in effect)?
To clarify: I can't blame you for being irate. It's just that expecting a given network to be up and running 100% of the time is not a realistic expectation to have.

| Re: [rant] I've had enough On the other hand, I've never lost all three services at the same time while on FiOS and never lost both Internet AND TV at the same time while on Comcast (which we had for many years). One or the other once in a while, sure -- but all three? Multiple times? That really isn't acceptable, residential class or otherwise. | |

I've had it just short of 3 months. I strongly disagree with you on one point. I have NO 911 service. The rest I don't really care about. Like I said, I'm an idiot. My old POTS had worked for 30 years with NO interruption except one time when the lines were hit by lightning. Shorted the protector. I took it out, and eureka - dial tone. I called repair service, a human answered, and it was replaced the next day.
2 things have me boiling. The crappy UVERSE service itself, made worse by trying to get a hold of ATT to report a problem. I lost track of how many times something burped, the tv screen went blue and a message "PRESS OK TO CONTINUE" popped up. WTF? This is just an obsolete technology that still isn't ready. Sorry.
They also lie about 24/7 tech support. It simply isn't there.
