| so my ps3 80gb finally got here..
My initial impressions - It took me a couple minutes to get used to the controls and the UI.
It is pretty simple. I'm getting better at typing a couple hours into it.
I did notice the wireless receiver on it totally sucks. If you don't have a straight shot to the AP, you get poor signal. My macbook pro loses about 7db of signal in the same location the PS3 is sitting.
I don't like how when you're downloading something, there is no actual meter of kb/s there is just downloading and the spinning thing.
Two questions though.
I have that HDMI right into an Onyko-SR606. However, it does not seem to want to put out TrueHD. It falls back on PCM. It also did not detect my 5.1 properly and I had to set that manually. After some googling - it seems the PS3 really can't output TrueHD... just ignore all the markings on the box and the unit. Correct?
Also a web browser question... I have the newer shock controller or whatever it's called. R3 is the zoom in.... I don't have an R3? Is there a way to rebind that or perhaps where is the hidden R3?

Correct? The PS3 actually decodes TrueHD, it doesn't send it over to the receiver to be decoded, which is why you see it using PCM (which really is a signal that's already-decoded). |
